How Turnbuckles Work

Turnbuckles, or a stretching screw, are design to create tension on rope, steel cable or other various wire tensioning applications. They usually consist of either an eye bolt or hook bolt screwed into the ends of the frame. When they do this one of the bolts is a right hand thread and the other a left hand thread. This allows for the bolts to be tightened without loosening the tension. Tightness can be adjusted by turning the metal frame that houses the bolts. It’s an ingenious idea that has made securing fence a much easier job!
